 Engineer Officer (EO)

LCDR Eben H. Phillips earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the Coast Guard Academy in the class of 1999. He served his first commissioned tour as an Engineering Officer in Training and Damage Control Assistant aboard the Seattle based USCGC POLAR STAR. He then transferred to Coast Guard Headquarters Office of Naval Engineering, where he helped manage the production and sustainment of the WLB and WLM Buoy Tender acquisition projects. He earned a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Professional Engineer certification while attending graduate school at the University of Washington thru 2006. He remained in Seattle for an Assistant Engineering Officer tour aboard USCGC POLAR SEA, where he helped complete extensive reliability and rehabilitation upgrades before completing Antarctic and Arctic deployments. LCDR Phillips reported to the Coast Guard Academy’s Mechanical Engineering Section in 2008, serving as an Assistant Professor for mechanical engineering courses while also coaching cadets in the Coastal Sailing and Offshore Racing training programs. He transferred to USCGC POLAR SEA in 2010, where he presently serves as the Engineering Officer.

 Operations Officer (OPS)

LCDR Fred W. Seaton serves as Operations Officer (OPS) in POLAR SEA and oversees the Administration, Communications, Health Services, Marine Sciences, and Navigation divisions. He is responsible for POLAR SEA mission execution including coordination of science mission support with the National Science Foundation. His previous afloat assignments include XO, CGC HOLLYHOCK; XO, CGC STURGEON BAY; OPS, CGC BRISTOL BAY, RM3, CGC DECISIVE; SN, CGC WHITE PINE.

Support Services Officer (SUPPO)

CWO2 Jeffrey Lester serves as the Support Services Officer (SUPPO) on board POLAR SEA and is responsible for the Supply and Food Service divisions. His previous assignments include assignment as Course Chief for Food Service Specialist "A" School, Senior Food Service Specialist and Food Service Officer on board USCGC DILIGENCE (WMEC 616), Independent Duty Food Service Officer on board USCGC MALLET (WLIC 75304) and as a Food Service Specialist at USCG Station New London, CT. CWO2 Lester entered the USCG in September of 1997 and was assigned to duty at CG ANT New Orleans upon graduation from boot camp.

CWO2 Lester is a native of Ewa Beach, HI.

 First Lieutenant (BOS'N)

CWO2 Peter J. Howard serves as the 1ST Lieutenant (BOSN) in POLAR SEA and is responsible for the Deck Department. His previous assignments include assignment as Chief Boatswain's Mate on board USCGC MIDGETT (WHEC 726), Chief Boatswain's Mate on board USCGC MELLON (WHEC-717), Executive Petty Officer at CG Station Port O'Connor, Operations Petty Officer at CG Station Fire Island, and Boatswain's Mate 3rd class on board USCGC POLAR SEA (WAGB 11). CWO2 Howard entered service in the USCG in August of 1993 and was assigned to duty at CG Station Siuslaw River upon completion of boot camp.

CWO2 Howard is a native of the Bronx, NY.
