Captain William Meese is reporting to MIDGETT from the Coast Guard Academy where he was assigned Department Head of Cadet Professional Maritime Studies, charged with developing the essential fleet-specific professional knowledge and skills required of all Academy graduates.  In 1988, Captain Meese was commissioned and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the Coast Guard Academy at New London, Connecticut.  Captain Meese is a native of Norwalk, Ohio. 

 

Captain Meese served in several sea tours including Commanding Officer in USCGC LEGARE (WMEC 912), Executive Officer in CGC MOHAWK (WMEC 913), Operations Officer in CGC FORWARD (WMEC 911), Commanding Officer in CGC POINT COUNTESS (WPB 82335), and Deck Watch Officer in CGC HARRIET LANE (WMEC 903).  He has happily completed over eleven years of sea duty and is eager to rejoin the fleet.

 

Captain Meese’s other staff tours include: Commanding Officer of the Training Quota Management Center in Chesapeake, Virginia; Command Center Controller in the Fifth Coast Guard District, Portsmouth, Virginia; and he served with the U.S. Navy’s Surface Group Two training division at Naval Station Mayport, Florida.

In 1999, Captain Meese received a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.  Captain Meese’s personal awards include the Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), the Coast Guard Commendation Medal (4 awards), the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal and the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation (2 awards).

Captain Meese is married to the former Colleen Donovan, also of Norwalk, Ohio.  They have three children, Morgan, Joe, and Katie, and make their home in Lebanon, Connecticut.
