OMBUDSMAN
The Ombudsman is the ship’s official liaison between your family and the command. She/he is usually a spouse who has considerable knowledge of Coast Guard routine and possesses maturity and common sense. She/he is most valuable and useful when the ship is away from port. Problems encountered by our families (i.e. spouses, children, parents) should go to the Ombudsman who can offer advice, support, and guidance, and who knows the most expeditious means of contacting you while BOUTWELL is deployed. Type in your local address for the nearest military hospital location (Sector San Diego’s address is 2710 North Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101). In San Diego, you will likely be seen at the NTC clinic if you are active duty, and family members will be seen at Naval Medical Center San Diego (Balboa) or one of the Tricare clinics in the area.
SCHOOL INFORMATION FOR CHILDREN
Go to http://www.greatschools.org/ for information on area schools. Check out the attachment (“Child Education Requirements”) for California school entry and health requirements before your child can enroll in school.
