WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD
CUTTER BOUTWELL (WHEC 719)

GREETINGS FROM THE COMMANDING OFFICER

Welcome aboard shipmate! CGC BOUTWELL is a High Endurance Cutter home-ported in San Diego, California. BOUTWELL serves the American public by conducting Law Enforcement, Military, and Humanitarian Service operations in the maritime domain focusing on Safe, Efficient, and Effective mission accomplishment. A High Endurance Cutter like BOUTWELL is an excellent platform for all new Coast Guard members to see how each of our diverse enlisted ratings contributes to operational excellence. In addition, every member of the crew gets to visit places they might never otherwise see and has numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth. Onboard mentors, especially our First Class and Chief Petty Officers, help create Individual Development Plans that map out goals leading to advancement and recognition while we work together to achieve important national and international objectives. I encourage you to learn more about the BOUTWELL and the opportunities available in the U.S. Coast Guard as you consider joining our nation's oldest continuous seagoing service!

OMBUDSMAN

The Ombudsman is the ship’s official liaison between your family and the command.  She/he is usually a spouse who has considerable knowledge of Coast Guard routine and possesses maturity and common sense.  She/he is most valuable and useful when the ship is away from port.  Problems encountered by our families (i.e. spouses, children, parents) should go to the Ombudsman who can offer advice, support, and guidance, and who knows the most expeditious means of contacting you while BOUTWELL is deployed. The Ombudsman is a great resource for questions about local family life, support, and many other issues.
