POLAR SEA conducted ice operations from 09-19 November on the Arctic West Fall Patrol. All ice encountered was either new or young ice. POLAR SEA saw everything from grease ice to pancake ice to giant ice flows. On her transit, POLAR SEA at one point had an additional 92 tons of added weight due to the icing accumulated during the transit through the Bering Strait! The crew spent hours de-icing and ridding the cutter of her polar adornment along this arctic voyage.
