MIDGETT Ombudsmen
Greetings!
I Cynthia Geelan am the Ombudsmen of the MIDGETT and I welcome you to the MIDGETT family. Working together I hope to bring our MIDGETT family closer together. I look forward to meeting all of you and hope that I can touch each of you with our combined enthusiasm.

Cynthia Geelan Cindy has been part of the Coast Guard family for twenty years. She met her husband Michael, Midgett's Comm/Nav Chief, in Cleveland Ohio while she was in the Navy. As a CG spouse she has been transferred six times and held down the home front for over nine years of sea time, raising their two children James 17, and Marissa 14. Born in Vancouver Washington she is extremely happy to be home and looks forward to lend a helping hand to the families of Midgett's crew. |
Missions
As Ombudsman I act as a liaison between the command and the families. I will relay any messages from the Captain that is asked of us to you, the families. I am also your fastest link to the Command when there is a problem at home. Anything that you relay to any of us is held in the highest confidence, and you can be assured that it will not be passed on to anyone without your consent EXCEPT for anything to do with spousal abuse, child abuse, alcohol and drug addiction, or if anything is said that would imply suicide. I hope you'll feel comfortable in coming to me for help or a hug should you ever need it. I'm here for you in any situation whether it's information about the area for our new arrivals, marriage trouble or you're feeling lonely or scared while your spouse is away. We have many resources available from helping with the strain of a patrol, to ideas for the kids while a parent is away. Just let us know what you are interested in and we can pass the information onto you.

When the ship comes into port I notify everyone by e-mail, if you do not have access to e-mail you'll need to let me know and we can add you to our "Contact List". E-mails will normally be sent the night before or as soon as I am officially notified.
