CGC Healy Command

Commanding OfficerCaptain's insigniaCommanding Officer

The Commanding Officer (CO) is Captain Frederick J. Sommer. Captain Sommer assumed command of HEALY in June, 2008. As CO, Captain Sommer is responsible for the overall safety of the ship and crew, as well as the successful completion of HEALY's assigned missions.


Commander's insigniaExecutive Officer

The Executive Officer (XO) is Commander John Reeves. CDR Reeves, as the XO, is responsible for the day to day operations onboard the ship, as well as carrying out all the administrative tasks and responsibilities necessary in making HEALY's missions successful.

Commander's insigniaOperations Officer

The Operations Officer (OPS) is Lieutenant Commander Eric St. Pierre. As OPS, LCDR St. Pierre oversees the daily operations of HEALY, including coordinating science mission support, information technology systems, personnel administrative issues and medical support.

LCDR insigniaEngineer Officer

The Engineer Officer (EO), Lieutenant Commander Doug Petrusa, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the most complex and technologically advanced power plant in operation within the Coast Guard. In addition, he provides support for all shipboard scientific hardware and equipment.

CWO insigniaSupply Officer

The Supply Officer (SUPPO) is Chief Warrant Officer Kenneth Johnson. CWO2 Johnson is responsible for all logistics, supply and support onboard HEALY. This includes such things as procurement of supplies and the  operation of the ship's galley.

Master Chief insigniaCommand Master Chief

ETCM Joe Passalacqua is Healy's Command Master Chief. Master Chief Passalacqua acts as a liaison between the ship's enlisted crewmembers and the command. In addition, as the senior most electronics technician onboard, Master Chief Passalacqua is responsible for maintenance and repair of HEALY's computer navigation, communication systems and unique science equipment.
