Captain Thomas E. Crabbs
Captain Crabbs completed six sea-going assignments, his latest as the Commanding Officer USCGC BOUTWELL (WHEC 719). Prior to BOUTWELL, CAPT Crabbs served afloat as Commanding Officer USCGC THETIS (WMEC 910) homeported in Key West, Florida; Executive Officer USCGC BEAR (WMEC 901) homeported in Portsmouth, Virginia; Operations Officer USCGC BOUTWELL (WHEC 719) homeported in Alameda, California; Staff Watch Officer Coast Guard Squadron 42; and as Deck Watch and Diving Officer, USCGC MALLOW (WLB 396) homeported in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Captain Crabbs also served at Coast Guard Headquarters Office of Readiness and Reserve; Coast Guard Liaison Officer to the Navy Diving and Salvage Training Center; Commanding Officer LORAN Station Sellia Marina, Italy; Surface Operations Officer Joint Interagency Task Force West; Chief, International Affairs and Chief, Operations Planning and Analysis, Coast Guard Atlantic Area; and Coast Guard Liaison Officer to Joint Interagency Task Force South, during which he also served as Commander, Task Unit 44.7.7 for Operation Southeast Watch-Haiti.
Captain Crabbs was raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia and is a 1985 graduate of Elon College, N.C. He received his commission from Coast Guard Officer Candidate School in 1987.
Captain Crabbs’ awards include the Defense Meritorious Service medal, two Meritorious Service medals, four Coast Guard Commendation medals, the Coast Guard Achievement medal, and two Navy Achievement medals.
