Captain Mark A. Frankford
Captain Frankford begins his eighth sea going assignment with his command of USCGC BERTHOLF (WMSL 750). He previously served afloat as Commanding Officer USCGC ACUSHNET (WMEC 167) home ported in Ketchikan, AK; Executive Officer USCGC MIDGETT (WHEC 726) home ported in Seattle, WA; Executive Officer USCSC STORIS (WMEC 38) home ported in Kodiak, AK; Operations Officer USCGC CONFIDENCE (WMEC 619) home ported in Port Canaveral, FL; Operations Officer USCGC MACKINAW (WAGB 83) home ported in Cheboygan, MI; Deck Watch and ASW Officer USCGC CHASE (WHEC 718) home ported in San Pedro, CA; and as Deck Watch and Communications Officer USCGC NORTHLAND (WMEC 904) home ported in Portsmouth, VA.
Captain Frankford also served at the Eleventh District Command Center, Long Beach, CA; Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, DC as Radio navigation Division Chief; U.S. Navy Afloat Training Group, San Diego, CA, as the Coast Guard Liaison Officer and Topside Warfare Department Head; and on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon as Homeland Defense Division Chief in the Operations Directorate and Coast Guard Liaison Officer to the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Captain Frankford hails from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and is a 1988 graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy. In addition to his undergraduate degree, Captain Frankford earned a Master of Science Degree in Information Systems from the George Washington University in 2002.
Captain Frankford’s awards include two Meritorious Service Medals, three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals and the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation.
