Master Chief Michael Leavitt hails
from Fruitland, Idaho. He enlisted in the United States Coast
Guard on May 9, 1982 and attended recruit training in Cape May, New
Jersey.
Master Chief’s Leavitt’s assignments have included USCGC BOUTWELL,
Seattle, WA; Station Coos Bay, OR; Station Umpqua
River, OR;
USCGC NAUSHON, Ketchikan, AK; Executive
Petty Officer (XPO) Station Siuslaw River, OR; Officer In
Charge (OIC) Station Maui, HI; XPO USCGC KANAWHA, Pine Bluff,
AR; OIC USCGC POINT DORAN, Everett, WA; OIC CG Station Hatteras Inlet
and Station Ocracoke, NC;
OIC CG Station Humboldt Bay, CA; OIC CG Station Tillamook Bay, OR, and
OIC CG Station Cape Disappointment, Ilwaco ,WA. He is
currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Deputy
Commandant for Operations at Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, DC.
Master Chief Leavitt’s awards include the Coast Guard Medal,
Meritorious Service Medal with an operational distinguishing device,
five Coast Guard Commendation Medals with the operational
distinguishing device, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals with and
the operational distinguishing device and numerous other individual and
unit awards. He has earned a permanent Cutterman insignia,
Surfman insignia, Boat Forces Operations insignia and Command Afloat
and Ashore devices.
He is a graduate of the Chief Petty Officers Academy Class
34. He earned a Bachelor of Science Business Administration
(BSBA) and is pursuing a Master of Arts Training and Education.
