Accessibility

The National Maritime Center (NMC) is committed to providing access to all individuals—with or without disabilities—seeking information on theNMC. To provide this information, the NMC website is built to conform to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (as amended). Information Retention

Information collected through the normal course of processing merchant mariner records is destroyed unless the USCG is required to archive these records in fulfillment of federal statutes or official policies. Electronically submitted information is maintained and destroyed according to the principles of the Federal Records Act and the regulations and records schedules approved by the National Archives and Records Administration. In some cases information submitted to us may become an agency record and therefore might be subject to a Freedom of Information Act request.

Personal Information

The NMC does not collect personal information for any purpose other than to respond to your request. The only personal information that we collect is what you decide to give us by ordering publications, sending us an e-mail, or subscribing to our Mariner Credentialing Programs List subscription services. If you choose to provide us with personal information like filling out a Contact Us form, with an e-mail address and name, and submitting it to us through the website we use that information to respond to your message, and to help get you the information you requested. Similarly, if you order a publication from the NMC, we will collect your name and mailing address to fulfill your order.

The NMC only shares the information you give with another government agency if your question relates to that agency, or as otherwise required by law. The NMC never collects information or creates individual profiles for commercial marketing.

Privacy

The NMC does not collect personal information such as e-mail and IP addresses when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information in our contact forms.
