Welcome to the NMC renewal website. Here you will find information in regards to renewing your license or what we now refer to as a Merchant Mariner Credential. One of our most recent changes is the requirements of all US Mariners to have a TWIC.
In order to avoid delays in obtaining your credential we have developed a checklist to help you complete this process. Please review the checklist to ensure that you do not miss or leave anything out of your application. Your application must be submitted (mailed) to a REC and not to the National Maritime Center.
If you are looking for a straight renewal then you are at the correct website. Below you will find our Renewal Wizard to help guide you through the process of renewing your credential.
If you are looking to upgrade (Raise of Grade) your credential then we recommend that you visit our Upgrade or Raise of Grade website.
Below you will find a list of Mariners classification with basic renewal information. Each link will take you to the Code of Federal Regulations which will inform you are the requirements.
