National Maritime Regional Exam Centers

Complete applications for mariner credentials must be submitted through a Regional Examination Center (REC) or Monitoring Unit (MU).  Complete applications are accepted electronically, by mail, or in person with an appointment.

 

Regional Examination Centers (RECs) are your first stop toward obtaining Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC), Certificates of Registry and STCW forms. RECs pre-screen applications, administer examinations and conduct oversight of approved courses. To view information for RECs, click on one of the blue states in the map above.

 

In order to avoid delays in obtaining your credential we have developed a checklist to help you complete this process. Please review the checklist to ensure that you do not miss or leave anything out of your application.
