FITNESS CRITERIA FOR MEDICATION USE

If you are taking any type of medication we will need to know what it is and why it is being used. Medications can have side effects that can restrict or limit your abilities. No mariner should be suffering from any medical condition that is likely to be aggravated by maritime service, render the mariner unfit for such service, or endanger the health of any other persons on board. It is recommended that any medication that could result in impaired judgment, balance, or any other requirements for effective and safe performance of routine and emergency duties be considered in the same way as a medical condition.
