National Maritime Center (NMC) Providing Credentials to Mariners
Merchant Mariner Credential Fees
Merchant Mariner Credential
The US Coast Guard under Title 46 part 10
of the Code of Federal Regulations has created a new
credential. It combines the individual Merchant
Mariner Document, license, and Certificate of Registry
as well as the STCW endorsement into a single credential
that serves as the Mariner's qualification document.
If a mariner pays by check or money order, the mariner should not be disclosing their full social security number on the method of payment. Title 46 of the CFR, Part 1-40, 10.219(d)(4), the applicant only needs to disclose his or her full legal name and last four digits of applicant's security number on the front of check or money order (credit
card payment form). Please make your check/money order payable to the U.S. Coast Guard
Please DO NOT send cash - only checks or money orders.
