Lieutenant Commander Kristopher S. Fegler is a native of Lyman, NE. He enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1999 and was assigned to USCGC KANKAKEE (WLR-75500) in Memphis, TN following graduation from Recruit Basic Training. In 2000 he was accepted to attend Officer Candidate School (OCS). Upon graduation from OCS in 2001, LCDR Fegler was assigned to the USCGC VIGOROUS (WMEC-627), where he served as Deck Watch Officer and Boarding Officer. Upon completion of his tour afloat in 2003 he was assigned to Maritime Safety and Security Team (MSST) Galveston, TX where he served as the Waterside Team 1 and Maritime Law Enforcement/Force Protection team leader. In 2005, LCDR Fegler was reassigned to Naval Coastal Warfare Group – One (NCWG-1) in San Diego, CA as the Coast Guard Liaison Officer. NCWG-1 provides centralized planning, training, equipping, and integration of security force units trained to operate in high density, multi-threat environments throughout the western United States, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, and Egypt. In 2007, LCDR Fegler returned to MSST Galveston to serve as Executive Officer. Most recently LCDR Fegler was assigned to North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command, where he served in the Maritime Strategy, Policy and Plans Directorate as a Maritime Analyst and Deputy Branch Chief.
LCDR Fegler’s personal awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corp Commendation Medal, Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and Commandants Letter of Commendation.
