ATTENTION: Base Portsmouth is a military facility and requires proper identification for access.
If you are planning on enrolling
in the Basic Rider Course offered at Base
Portsmouth you will be required to comply with the rules and regulations
found in the Motorcycle Regulations and Safety Procedures Instruction
INTSUPRTCOM
PORTSVA INST 5100.7A and the Safety and Environmental Health Manual
COMDTINST M5100.47 Chapter
10-I-9.
After reviewing the above
regulations please fill out the
Basic Rider
Enrollment Form and e-mail it to the party indicated on the form.
Please print and sign the
Motorcycle
Safety Foundation (MSF) Course Waiver Form prior to attending the
course. Students should turn this form in to the course instructor on
the first day of the course.
Once you receive confirmation to
attend the course, your name will be submitted to Base Portsmouth Security. This
list will identify you as a student in the motorcycle safety course.
You are not required to have a temporary/guest pass, but you will need your
government or military ID card so that Security can ensure your name is on
the course roster. In addition to having your ID, you must also wear
all of the required protective equipment found in the above instructions and
your motorcycle must be legally registered and insured by one of the fifty
states.
As a student in the motorcycle
safety course, you will be allowed to bring your motorcycle on base for the
two day course only. Most likely you will not have a Coast Guard (CG)
or Department of Defense (DOD) decal on your motorcycle; that's why you are
taking the course. If you do not have a CG or DOD decal then the
operation of your motorcycle will be limited to those activities that are
directly involved with or required by the course. Motorcycles without
decals found in areas not related to the course will be handled by security.
Please note this course is open
to active duty personnel, government service (civilian employees, and
reservists. We are not able to teach active duty dependents or
government service dependents. We are limited to 12 students per class
in accordance with the rules set by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and we
will not exceed that number for any given class.
Students are required to provide
their own bike and safety gear during the course. There are no loaner
bikes available or provided for this course.
