Commanding Officer

Lieutenant Natalia Best, hails from Englewood, Tennessee. Upon receiving her commission from the Coast Guard Accademy in May 2005, she reported aboard the USCGC DILIGENCE (WMEC 616) in Wilmington, NC, as a Deck Watch Officer. While aboard DILIGENCE, she served as the ship's Communications Officer and First Lieutenant. In June 2007, LT Best transfered to the USCGC STURGEON (WPB 87336) in Grand Isle, LA, where she served as the Commanding Officer. LT Best is reporting to PATFORSWA from U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Area in Alameda, CA, where she served as the Living Marine Resources Program Manager since June 2011.

LT Best holds a bachelor's degree in Marine and Environmental Sciences from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and a masters degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Washington.

LT Best is married to Brad Best of Marshalltown, LA. Together they have a son, Henry Earl.

Executive Officer

Lieutenant Junior Grade James Matthew Hurtt, a native of Old Lyme, Connecticut, graduated with honors from the United States Coast Guar Academy in 2012 with a B.S. in Government. His career began as a Weapons Officer, Deck Watch Officer, Electronics Materials Officer and Boarding Officer onboard the USCGC THETIS (WMEC 910) homeported in Key West, FL. Upon leaving USCGC THETIS in 2013 he began his current assignment as Executive Officer of USCGC ADAK (WPB 1333).

Command Chief

Chief Petty Officer Robert Cummins, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; graduated U.S. Coast Guard Basic Training January of 1991. Upon graduating Basic Training MKC Cummins was assigned to USCGC MELLON (WHEC-717), home ported in Seattle Washington. After completion of Machinery Technician "A" School in Yorktown, Virginia, MKC Cummins was assigned to MSO/Group Philadelphia's Boat Operations Department. MKC Cummins' other assignments included USCGC MIDGETT (WHEC-726) home ported in Seattle, Washington, USCG Atlantic Strike located on Fort Dix, New Jersey, Air Station Atlantic City, and Station Philadelphia where he served as the Engineer Petty Officer.

Most recently MKC Cummins served aboard USCGC VIGOROUS (WMEC-627) home ported in Cape May, New Jersey where he serve as the Main Propulsion Chief and Command Chief.

MKC Cummins currently serves onboard CGC ADAK as the Engineer Petty Officer and oversees Damage Control training and overall operation of the engineering plant.

Chief Cummins is married to Lisa Schalich also of Philadelphia.
