CDR Greg Magee is a 1994 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Government. His previous assignment was as
the Coast Guard Liaison Officer in the Office of the Chief of Naval
Operations (OPNAV) at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
CDR Magee’s first tour was Deck Watch Officer and Boarding Officer in
USCGC DALLAS (WHEC 716). In 1996, he transferred to
USS LABOON (DDG 58)
as a Navy Exchange Officer, serving as LABOON's Navigator. From
1998-2001, CDR Magee served in the Office of Law Enforcement at Coast
Guard Headquarters as a Migrant Interdiction Specialist. In June 2001,
he assumed command of
USCGC SAPELO (WPB 1314) in Key West, FL. In
response to Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, CDR Magee was deployed to the
Middle East as the first Executive Officer of Coast Guard Patrol Forces
Southwest Asia. In 2003, he reported to Coast Guard Personnel Command in
the Officer Personnel Management division serving as Chief of the
Separations Section and later Chief of the Boards Section. He returned
to sea in 2006 serving as Executive Officer of
USCGC HARRIET LANE (WMEC
903) in Portsmouth, VA.
CDR Magee is a U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Officer. He holds a Master's in Public
Administration from George Mason University, a Masters of Military
Studies from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and a graduate
certificate in E-Commerce from the University of Virginia. His awards
include a Meritorious Service Medal, four Coast Guard
Commendation Medals, a Navy Commendation Medal, a Coast Guard
Achievement Medal and two Coast Guard Commandant's Letters of
Commendation. |
