LCDR William A. Scott enlisted in May 1978. He graduated from Basic Training in Cape May, NJ. A prior Senior Chief Boatswains Mate with 21 years of enlisted service, he received his commission as Chief Warrant Officer on June 1, 2000. He was promoted to Lieutenant on June 1, 2004 and Lieutenant Commander on December 1, 2009. LCDR Scott has served in variety of assignments both afloat and ashore as he worked his way from the enlisted ranks to the officer corps during his 34 years of dedicated Coast Guard service.
A permanent cutterman, LCDR Scott’s past afloat tours include Commanding Officer, USCGC KEY BISCAYNE (WPB-1339) St. Petersburg, FL; Operations Officer on USCGC RESOLUTE (WMEC-620) St. Petersburg, Florida; pre-commissioning of and Executive Petty Officer on USCGC HARRY CLAIBORNE (WLM-561) Galveston, Texas; 1st Lieutenant on USCGC KUKUI (WLB-203) Honolulu, Hawaii; pre-commissioning of and 1st Lieutenant on USCGC BARANOF (WPB-1318) Miami Beach, Florida; USCGC SALVIA (WLB-400) Mobile, Alabama; and USCGC SASSAFRAS (WLB-401) Governors Island, New York.
Past ashore tours include Atlantic Area Response, Portsmouth, Virginia; Sector St. Petersburg Response, St. Petersburg, FL; Officer in Charge, USCG Station Manasquan Inlet, Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey; Executive Petty Officer, Station Cortez, Florida ; Recruiter in Charge, Columbia, SC; Station Mobile, Alabama; ANT Mobile, Alabama; Group St. Petersburg, Florida and isolated duty at Loran Station Attu, Alaska.
