A career Cutterman with over 11 years of sea service, Commander Hosmer’s previous shipboard assignments include Commanding Officer of CGC MONSOON in Coronado, California (2006-2008 decommissioning); Commanding Officer of CGC PEA ISLAND in St. Petersburg, Florida (2000-2002); Coast Guard Liaison Officer to Commander U.S. Third Fleet aboard USS CORONADO in San Diego, California (2002-2004); Executive Officer of CGC ASSATEAGUE in Honolulu, Hawaii (1995-1997); and Deck Watch Officer onboard CGC JARVIS in Honolulu, Hawaii (1993-1995).
CDR Hosmer’s staff assignments include serving as a charter member of the FORCECOM Implementation Team and Plankowner of Coast Guard Force Readiness Command in Alameda, California (2008-2009); the first Military Aide to the Deputy Secretary, Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C. (2004-2006); and Command Duty Officer at the Pacific Area/District Eleven Command Center in Alameda, CA (1997-2000).
Commander Hosmer graduated with a B.S. in Marine Science from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1993 and has a M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the College of Naval Command and Staff, U.S. Naval War College, in Newport, Rhode Island.
His personal awards include two Meritorious Service Medals w/ operational distinguishing device, two Coast Guard Commendation Medals w/ operational distinguishing device, the Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal with operational distinguishing device, the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal, and several other personal and unit awards.
