BLAZON

Shield: Quarterly Argent and Gules, a ship's wheel Or surmounted by a silhouette of a SENECA Indian head Sable.

Crest: From a wreath Argent and Gules, a demi-torch enflamed Proper surmounted by a dagger palewise point down Sable.

Supporters: On dexter, a representation of LTJG Fletcher W. Brown and on sinister, Jimmy Nevins.

Motto: A bipartite scroll Azure doubled Gules inscribed "A TRADITION OF HONOR" "A LEGACY OF ACTION" Argent.

SEAL

The coat of arms as blazoned in full color on a white disk enclosed by a dark blue border edged on the outside with gold rope and inscribed "USCGC SENECA" above and "WMEC 906" below in gold.

SYMBOLISM

Shield: Dark blue, red and white are traditionally used by the Coast Guard; gold is emblematic of honor and high achievement and red denotes valor. The ship's wheel represents guidance and leadership while highlighting its search and rescue missions. The SENECA Indian recalls the ship's namesake.

Crest: The torch symbolizes truth and knowledge. The dagger commemorates the sacrifices of the first SENECA during one of the most heroic and tragic rescue attempts in maritime history. The weapon also underscores the ship's law enforcement and military duties.

Supporters: The supporters represent the officers and enlisted men of the original SENECA crew. LTJG Fletcher W. Brown, led the heroic attempt to save the torpedoed British Steamer WELLINGTON. Jimmy Nevins, an enlisted man, begged to be one of the eighteen to board the WELLINGTON and lost his life in the salvage attempt.

Motto: The motto honors the past and the professionalism and expertise of each crew member.
