Commander Charles D. Miller


Commander Miller is a 1990 graduate of Emory University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Classics and English. Commander Miller holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Navy War College. Commander Miller served as Engineer Officer aboard two Coast Guard Cutters: USCGC STEADFAST out of Astoria, Oregon and USCGC GALLATIN out of Charleston, South Carolina, and began his Coast Guard career as a Student Engineer aboard USCGC MORGENTHAU. Ashore he has served as Assistant Chief of Planning at Marine Safety Office Wilmington, North Carolina, Executive Officer of Naval Engineering Support Center Charleston, South Carolina, and Commanding Officer of Training Quota Management Center, Chesapeake, Virginia. His most recent assignment was as USCG Liaison Officer to COMUSNAVCENT in the Kingdom of Bahrain. During his Coast Guard career which began in March of 1993, Commander Miller has been awarded the following military decorations: the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Four Coast Guard Commendation Medals, One Coast Guard Achievement Medal, One Letter of Commendation, and various personal, team, and unit awards.
