A native of Fort Wayne, IN, Lieutenant Commander Sarah K. (Kathy) Felger earned a Bachelor of Science in Management and was commissioned as an Ensign at the U. S. Coast Guard Academy in 1997.
Lieutenant Commander Felger’s first assignment was aboard USCGC MOHAWK, where she served as First Lieutenant and Communications Officer, in Key West, FL. She then served as Executive Officer, USCGC SITKINAK, also in Key West. Lieutenant Commander Felger returned to Key West to take Command of USCGC DRUMMOND after serving as a Controller and Command Duty Officer at the Coast Guard Seventh District Command Center in Miami, FL for three years.
Following her command tour, Lieutenant Commander Felger earned a Master’s degree in Leadership Education and Development from the University of Maryland. Lieutenant Commander Felger then served as a Company Officer at the U. S. Coast Guard Academy. She has served as DEPENDABLE’s Executive Officer since June 2010.
Lieutenant Commander Felger’s awards include three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, and a Coast Guard Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbon.
