OS2 Terrence C. Young
Petty Officer Young is assigned to the Operations department aboard USCGC DEPENDABLE (WMEC 626) where he serves as a CIC watchstander and COMTAC custodian. His collateral duties include morale committee, leadership and diversity advisory council, unit health promotion coordinator and operating the ship’s store. Petty Officer Young’s qualifications onboard DEPENDABLE include; boarding team member, CIC watchstander, Gangway Petty Officer of the Watch (GPOW), as well as advanced and basic damage control.
Petty Officer Young grew up in Richmond Hill, GA. He entered the Coast Guard in 2006. Petty Officer Young started his career at the Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore, MD before attending OS “A” school.
Throughout his career, Petty Officer Young has been an advocate for physical fitness. He has demonstrated excellence in the planning and execution of operational Coast Guard missions. Most notably during a 2013 First Coast Guard District Patrol, he and his boarding party seized 1,364 pounds of cocaine on a sailing vessel. This was historically the largest drug bust in the first district.
