Lieutenant Commander Mark P. Glancy

New York
native, Lieutenant Commander Glancy graduated from the Virginia Military
Institute in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies
and Politics with minors in History and French.
He was commissioned in May 1999 after
attending Officer Candidate School and served as a Deck Watch Officer aboard
USCGC VIGOROUS (WMEC-627) homeported in Cape May, New Jersey.His next tour was as Executive Officer aboard USCGC BARANOF
(WPB-1318), stationed in Miami
Beach, Florida.In January 2003, Lieutenant Commander Glancy re-homported BARANOF to
the Kingdom
of Bahrain for
participation in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.Upon completion of that tour, he served as a Surface Operations
Instructor at Afloat Training Group Pacific in San Diego,
California.Between 2005 and 2007 he was the Commanding Officer of USCGC
SIITKINAK (WBB-1329) in Miami Beach.In 2008 he earned a Masters of Science in Strategic Intelligence from
the NationalDefenseIntelligenceCollege and became the
first Intelligence Officer to serve at Coast Guard Sector Miami.Lieutenant Commander Glancy became the Executive Officer of USCGC
CONFIDENCE (WMEC-619), homeported in Port Canaveral, Florida
in May 2011.
Lieutenant Commander Glancy’s personal awards include 3 Coast Guard
Commendation Medals (w/ “O” device), 2 Navy and Marine Corps Commendation
Medals, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, the Commandant’s Letter of
Commendation (w/ “O” device) and the Combat Action Ribbon.He was awarded his permanent Cutterman Insignia in 2004.
