JFCOM JRU
While other Joint Reserve Units exist throughout the Department of Defense, the U.S. Joint Forces Command Joint Reserve Unit (JRU) is comprised of approximately 600 reservists and is one of only two JRUs that incorporates all seven of the armed service components (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Army and Air National Guard, and Coast Guard Reserve) all working together to support the Department of Defense’s only unified command charged with the transformation of the U.S. armed forces.
The JRU is a command and control organization responsible for eight subordinate reserve directorates and individual mobilization augmentee (IMA) organizations. The JRU consolidates administrative, training and security functions common to all reserve component service elements.
The JRU’s mission is to fully integrate reservists into various directorates that lead the transformation of the U.S. armed forces. Reserve pilots, land and sea commanders, planners and trainers contribute daily to U.S. military transformation. USJFCOM mission support functions like director's staff, computer infrastructure, personnel administration and logistics also rely on reserve augmentation. Other key mission areas include joint experimentation, joint training and providing U.S.-based forces and capabilities to support combatant commanders and domestic requirements.
The Coast Guard Reserve Unit (CGRU) is the USCG facet of the JRU and is comprised of approximately 16 Coast Guard Reserve personnel.
