The theme for the 2012 World Maritime Day is IMO: One hundred years after the Titanic, which will focus on the IMO's roots and led to the adoption of SOLAS in 1914.
World Maritime Day will be observed Septmeber 24-28, 2012 in London, United Kingdom. The World Maritime Day Parallel Event will be held in Bahrain, October 17-18, 2012.

2011 World Maritime Day Observance
The United States participated in the 2011 International Maritime Organization (IMO) World Maritime Day Oberservance. The Observance was co-sponsored by multiple governmental, non-governmental, and industry organizations. The theme for the 2011 event was Piracy: Orchestrating the response. The United States Observance of World Maritime Day was be held in Tampa, FL on October 27-28, 2011.
The World Maritime Day Parallel Event took place in Rome, Italy.
The goal of the 2011 World Maritime Day was to attract public, private, and government attention to promote anti-piracy coordination and cooperation procedures between and among States, regions, organizations and industry.
