Summary


Under the direct instruction of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) and as may be requested by the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), the Sub-Committee on Ship Systems & Equipment (SSE) considers matters related to the following subjects: Additional details regarding the Sub-Committee's work program can be found in its Terms of Reference document.

The United States is represented on the SSE Sub-Committee by the Coast Guard. The Head of Delegation for SSE is the Coast Guard's Design and Engineering Standards Office Chief, CAPT Benjamin Hawkins. CAPT Hawkins is supported by the Alternate Head of Delegation/Administrative Program Manager, Ms. Brandi Baldwin, and the various delegation advisors.

U.S. Public Meeting

The U.S. delegation holds a public meeting several weeks prior to departing for the IMO meeting. The purpose of the public meeting is to provide an opportunity for the public to interface with the Coast Guard on the U.S. position for each agenda item. Members of the public interested in attending must contact the meeting coordinator at least 7 days prior to the meeting. The basic meeting details are below however, additional details can be provided by contacting the meeting coordinator.

Previous Sessions


At the end of each SSE meeting, a final report is prepared for submission to the Maritime Safety and Environment Protection Committees. The final report provides a record of the issues discussed and actions taken by the Sub-Committee. The final reports of the most recent DE, FP, and SLF meetings are provided for your reference.
