Under the direct instruction of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) and as may be requested by the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), the Sub-Committee on Navigation, Communication, and Search and Rescue (NCSR) , formerly COMSAR and NAV, considers matters related to the following subjects: Additional details regarding the Sub-Committee's work program can be found in its Terms of Reference document.

The United States is represented on the NCSR Sub-Committee by the Coast Guard. The Head of Delegation for NCSR is the Coast Guard's Marine Transportation Systems Directorate Director, Mr. Gary Rasicot. Mr. Rasicot is supported by the Administrative Program Manager, Mr. George Detweiler, and the various delegation advisors.

IMO Meeting

U.S. Public Meeting

The U.S. delegation holds a public meeting several weeks prior to departing for the IMO meeting. The purpose of the public meeting is to provide an opportunity for the public to interface with the Coast Guard on the U.S. position for each agenda item. Members of the public interested in attending must contact the meeting coordinator at least 7 days prior to the meeting. The basic meeting details are below however, additional details can be provided by contacting the meeting coordinator.

Previous Sessions

At the end of each COMSAR meeting, a final report is prepared for submission to the Maritime Safety Committee. The final report provides a record of the issues discussed and actions taken by the Sub-Committee. The final reports of the most recent NAV and COMSAR meetings are provided for your reference.
