Summary
The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) is a subsidiary body of the Council. MEPC, which consists of all Member States, is empowered to consider any matter within the scope of the Organization concerned with prevention and control of pollution from ships. In particular it is concerned with the adoption and amendment of conventions and other regulations and measures to ensure their enforcement.

The United States is represented on the MEPC by the Coast Guard. The Head of Delegation for MEPC is the Coast Guard's Director of Commercial Regulations and Standards, Mr. Jeff Lantz. Mr. Lantz is supported by the Alternate Head of Delegation, Mr. Wayne Lundy, the Administrative Program Manager, Ms. Regina Bergner, and the various delegation advisors.

The U.S. delegation holds a public meeting several weeks prior to departing for the IMO meeting. The purpose of the public meeting
is to provide an opportunity for the public to interface with the Coast Guard on the U.S. position for each agenda item.
To facilitate entry, members of the public
interested in attending may contact the meeting coordinator at least 7 days prior to the meeting. The basic meeting details are below however, additional
details can be provided by contacting the meeting coordinator.
At the end of each MEPC meeting, a final report is prepared for submission to the Council. The final report provides a record of the issues discussed and actions taken by the Committee. The final reports of the most recent MEPC meetings are provided for your reference.
Additional MEPC meeting documents can be made available by the Coast Guard for U.S. citizens only. Please contact Regina Bergner if you would like to obtain additional MEPC documents.
