effective implementation of the relevant conventions, codes and other instruments, mandatory or recommendatory, as appropriate, dealing with dry cargo operations, which include dangerous goods, solid bulk cargoes and containers;
further enhancement of the safety and security culture, and environmental consciousness in all dry cargo operations; and
co-operation with other relevant UN bodies, IGO's and NGO's on international standards related to dry cargo operations.

The United States is represented on the DSC Sub-Committee by the Coast Guard. The Head of Delegation for DSC is Coast Guard's Hazardous Materials Standards Division Chief, CDR Michael Roldan. CDR Roldan is supported by the Alternate Head of Delegation and Administrative Program Manager; Mr. Richard Bornhorst, and the various delegation advisors.

U.S. Public Meeting
The U.S. delegation holds a public meeting several weeks prior to departing for the IMO meeting. The purpose of the public meeting
is to provide an opportunity for the public to interface with the Coast Guard on the U.S. position for each agenda item. Members of the public
interested in attending must contact the meeting coordinator at least 7 days prior to the meeting. The basic meeting details are below however, additional
details can be provided by contacting the meeting coordinator.
At the end of each DSC meeting, a final report is prepared for submission to the Maritime Safety and Marine Environment Protection Committees. The final report provides a record of the issues discussed and actions taken by the Sub-Committee. The final reports of the most recent DSC meetings are provided for your reference.
Additional DSC meeting documents can be made available by the Coast Guard for U.S. citizens only. Please contact Mr. Richard Bornhorst if you would like to obtain additional DSC documents.
