Stability and Load Lines and on Fishing Vessels Safety (SLF)

Under the direct instruction of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) and as may be requested by the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), the Sub-Committee on Stability and Load Lines and on Fishing Vessels Safety (SLF) considers matters related to the following subjects: Additional details regarding the Sub-Committee's work program can be found in its Terms of Reference document.

The United States is represented on the SLF Sub-Committee by the Coast Guard. The Head of Delegation for SLF is the Coast Guard's Naval Architecture Division Chief, Mr. Jaideep Sirkar. Mr. Sirkar is supported by the Alternate Head of Delegation, Mr. Jim Person, the Administrative Program Manager, LCDR Catherine Phillips, and the various delegation advisors.

U.S. Public Meeting

The U.S. delegation holds a public meeting several weeks prior to departing for the IMO meeting. The purpose of the public meeting is to provide an opportunity for the public to interface with the Coast Guard on the U.S. position for each agenda item. Members of the public interested in attending must contact the meeting coordinator at least 7 days prior to the meeting. The basic meeting details are below however, additional details can be provided by contacting the meeting coordinator.

IMO SLF Tonnage Correspondence Group (CG)

SLF 54 established the TM Convention Correspondence Group (TM Convention CG). The group is tasked with developing and recommending amendments to the TM Convention, as necessary, along with updates to associated interpretations. The coordinator of this correspondence group was Mr. Peter Eareckson of the United States. Previous Sessions

At the end of each SLF meeting, a final report is prepared for submission to the Maritime Safety and Environment Protection Committees. The final report provides a record of the issues discussed and actions taken by the Sub-Committee. The final reports of the most recent SLF meetings are provided for your reference.

Additional SLF meeting documents can be made available by the Coast Guard to U.S. citizens only. Please contact LCDR Catherine Phillips if you would like to obtain additional SLF documents.
