Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR)

Under the direct instruction of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) and the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), the Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR) , formerly BLG, considers matters related to the following subjects: Additional details regarding the Sub-Committee's work program can be found in its Terms of Reference document.

The United States is represented on the PPR Sub-Committee by the Coast Guard. The Head of Delegation for PPR is the Coast Guard's Operating and Environmental Standards Office Chief, CAPT Scott Kelly. CAPT Kelly is supported by the Alternate Head of Delegation and Administrative Program Manager, Ms. Regina Bergner, and the various delegation advisors.

U.S. Public Meeting

The U.S. delegation holds a public meeting several weeks prior to departing for the IMO meeting. The purpose of the public meeting is to provide an opportunity for the public to interface with the Coast Guard on the U.S. position for each agenda item. Members of the public interested in attending must contact the meeting coordinator at least 7 days prior to the meeting. The basic meeting details are below however, additional details can be provided by contacting the meeting coordinator.

Previous Sessions

At the end of each PPR meeting, a final report is prepared for submission to the Maritime Safety and Marine Environment Protection Committees. The final report provides a record of the issues discussed and actions taken by the Sub-Committee. The final reports of the most recent PPR and BLG meetings are provided for your reference.

Additional Documentation

Additional PPR meeting documents can be made available by the Coast Guard for U.S. citizens only. Please contact Ms. Regina Bergner if you would like to obtain additional PPR or BLG documents.
