Coast Guard Weight & Body Fat Standards Program

The Coast Guard Weight & Body Fat Standards Program is an administrative process geared to ensure that all Coast Guard personnel:

  1. Maintain a healthy weight and body fat percentage.
  2. Are capable of meeting the organization's operational needs and challenges.

All Coast Guard military personnel shall be screened against Weight & Body Fat standards every April and October.

Note: Per ALCOAST 398/12, the authorizing official for all medical abeyance, exemption, and tobacco cessation requests is Commander, Personnel Service Center (PSC-PSD-FS).  COMDT (CG-122) remains the POC for all policy-related questions and concerns.  Questions regarding process and procedures for medically-related waiver and abeyance requests should be directed to CWO Toni Varner, PSC-PSD-FS at (202)-493-1923.  Questions regarding Coast Guard Weight & Body Fat Standards policy should be directed to LT J.
