Requirements for Members Exceeding Max Allowable Body Fat

Commands shall refer members exceeding maximum allowable body fat to their Primary Care Manager (PCM) to determine the cause of weight gain and consultation. Commands shall refer members to the PCM by filling out Section 1 of the (Command Weight Referral Form SF 600).  PCM's shall fill out Section 2.  Members shall inform command of any medical problems with losing weight or starting an exercise program.

Members who exceed their maximum allowable weight are highly encouraged to use any of the following resources:

  • Health Promotion Managers are the CG experts in nutrition and exercise.  They are a great resource for members wanting weight loss advice.  The following is a link to the current  Health Promotion Managers.  

  • Contact CG SUPRT Health Coaching at 1-855-CGSUPRT (1-855-247-8778). Health Coaches are telephonic coaches who can assist members with overcoming barriers to achieving weight-loss goals through lifestyle changes. Additional information is available in the Weight Management section at www.CGSUPRT.com;

  • Go to the Human Performance Resource Center (HPRC) website at http://hprc-online.org/, where information is available on a variety of health subjects such as nutrition and exercise

  • Start food log by using CHOOSEMYPLATEGOV or comparable program suggested by Health Promotion Manager (HPM). Nutrition information from the USDA (contact your HPM for more examples) SUPERTRACKER: Track calories and activities. Refer to caloric intake calculator to estimate caloric needs.

  • Start a fitness log to track progress.  As you lose weight your fitness should improve.

  • Calorie King: www.calorieking.com: A food awareness website that provides effective tools to take charge of your eating and exercise habits, including a searchable database of foods you eat and the nutrients they provide.
  • Choose Healthy Options for Wellness Assessment: The CHOW Assessment Tools were developed to help military communities assess their environment to determine the extent to which people can access healthy food options. Two versions of the tool are CHOW-Community and CHOW-Worksite. CHOW is and excellent tool to help you assess whether the food choices you make daily are meeting your nutrient needs.
  • SPARKPEOPLE.COM is a FREE online service to help improve your health.
