Mission Effectiveness Project

Under the Mission Effectiveness Project (MEP), 110’, 210’ and 270’ legacy cutters undergo an extended refurbishment at the Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay, Md., overseen by the recently-established Legacy Sustainment Support Unit (LSSU).

Status

To date, the following were refurbished and delivered on time and on budget:

  • 15 (of 17) 110-foot patrol boats (WPBs)
  • 14 (of 14) 210-foot medium endurance cutters (WMECs)
  • nine (of 19) shipyard availabilities for 270-foot WMECs (13 270s total; six 270s have two six-month availabilities each; seven 270s have one 11-month availability each)
