TWIC Check

The Coast Guard inspects TWIC cards routinely during facility inspections.

Mission:

The facility inspection program aims to prevent maritime transportation security incidents and marine casualties resulting from malicious acts, accidents or acts of nature against waterfront facilities.  The program aims to protect the public, protect critical infrastructure and minimize damage to the environment while limiting disruption to and supporting restoration of the Maritime Transportation System (MTS). The program accomplishes this by:

MTSA Course Certification:

As of October 1, 2014, MTSA course providers should submit courses for review & approval directly to Coast Guard accepted QSSs, as listed in the below documents. Also available below is the updated list of approved courses.

Coast Guard Headquarters Office of Port and Facility Compliance (CG-FAC) has developed a training presentation designed to provide maritime industry and Coast Guard personnel new to the maritime community an introduction to the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) and the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS).  Additionally, the presentation provides basic information on the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), America's Waterways Watch program and suspicious activity reporting procedures.
