The Australian National Search and Rescue Manual is the standard reference document for use by all Australian Search and Rescue (SAR) authorities. It is promulgated by the National SAR Council operating under direction from relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory Ministers. The Manual promulgates SAR coordination procedures for SAR operations conducted within Australia and the Australian SAR region.

This circular contains the Global SAR Plan, holding information on the current availability of Search and Rescue (SAR) Services, based on responses received from Member Governments in line with COMSAR.1/Circ.52. Annex 1 provides the list of Member Governments which have provided information. Annex 2 provides the information on the availability of SAR Services, listed per country. Annex 3 provides information on Tele-medical Maritime Advice Services (TMAS). Annex 4 provides maps showing the worlds' Search and Rescue Regions. This circular supersedes SAR.8/Circ.2 and contains the latest information based on replies received from Member Governments up to 20 May 2011.

Report Abstract
This leaflet has been prepared jointly by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). It is intended for masters, ship owners, government authorities, insurance companies, and other interested parties involved in rescue at sea situations. It provides guidance on relevant legal provisions, and on practical procedures to ensure the prompt disembarkation of survivors of rescue operations, and measures to meet their specific needs, particularly in the case of refugees and asylum-seekers.
