Commander Patrick Dugan graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Science. Upon commissioning, he reported as a Deck Watch Officer and later Operations Officer aboard USCGC HORNBEAM (WLB-394). Follow-on assignments include staff in the Atlantic Area Exercise Branch, assignment as the Ocean Engineer and 11th District Civil Engineering Coordinator at Civil Engineering Unit Oakland, staff as the Coast Guard representative to the NORAD/U.S. Northern Command J6 directorate, and most recently as the chief of public works at Integrated Support Command Kodiak, Alaska.
Commander Dugan earned a postgraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire in Ocean Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio. Commander Dugan’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and three CG Commendation Medals.
A native of Kettering, Ohio, Commander Dugan is married to the former Jennifer Lucas of Delta Junction, Alaska; they have two children, Michael (15) and Caitlyn (13).
