Coast Guard Yard Memorial Day 2012

"Service to the Fleet"

The Baltimore Area Coast Guard Commands held their annual Memorial Day Service on Friday, 25 May 2012 at the Coast Guard Yard Veterans Monument.  United States Senator Benjamin Cardin of Maryland provided keynote remarks to an audience of 300 military members and civilian employees.  Several guests from local Anne Arundel County communities were in attendance.  The ceremony included presentation of colors by the Baltimore Area Coast Guard (BACG) Color Guard, a traditional wreath laying by BACG organizations, a 3-volley salute by the Yard Rifle Squad, taps played by Coast Guard Auxiliarist Paul Deafenbaugh, and distribution of "buddy poppies."   (Official USCG photos, Yard)
