Auxiliary Knowledge Base
(AuxKB)
The AuxKB is a tool to enable members to find answers to frequently asked questions. It should not be considered to be the "end all, be all", in other words the arbiter of all things Coast Guard/Auxiliary. Use of appropriate COMDTINSTs, ALAUXs, ALCOASTs and other official announcements and web sites should be part of any research on a particular subject.
Should conflicting information be found, usually the latest information is correct, but one should always get an official answer by using the COL up to your local DIRUAX.
The Auxiliary Knowledge Base permits user feedback by employing a built-in question rating system. This allows users to provide feedback and comments on spewcific questions. The Office of Auxiliary will not directly respond to such feedback or comments, but it will consider them in order to revise, update, or add to the Auxiliary Knowledge Base. The most efficient and effective way for an individual to get an answer to a policy question, particularly when it is regionally specific, remains through the Auxiliarist's chain of leadership and management.
Before asking a new question, search the AuxKB. The Search feature will take as little as three characters (such as searching on ODU). If it doesn't find an answer, try amplifying your search criteria. Example: You want to search for the word "summer". If using "sum" does not return a response, then try using "summer" itself. You chances of getting a hit are much better. Also try using different similar terms. Instead of "summer", "season" may work, etc
