Merchandise purchases can only be made by authorized Coast Guard, NOAA, and Public Health personnel. This includes:

Your Employee I.D. number (EMPLID) or Auxiliary Member number is required to purchase items - Social Security Numbers (SSN's) are not authorized.  Customer Service Reps are not allowed to provide you your EMPLID due to possible security risks.

Payment may be made by your personal Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card American Express cards, personal check or money order (for the exact amount of the purchase), or the Charge-To-Pay method (Coast Guard Active Duty only). Please do not send credit card (CC) information via fax or email, as you may accidentally send it to the wrong person. If placing an email or unit order, please submit your form without the CC information, then call the UDC to provide payment.

Purchases are shipped by USPS Priority Mail at no cost to you.

Individual Email Orders

Individuals may email their orders to the UDC 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. Orders will be processed the following business day.  You must utilize the standard order form to enter all required information, then email the completed form to It is strongly encouraged that you send this form from a .mil account, if possible, and not from a commercial email service provider.

Active Duty CG orders will be charged to your pay using your Employee ID (EMPLID). Non-Active Duty CG members cannot use charge-to-pay. You must instead use this form to submit your order, then call the UDC with your credit card information.

If you do not receive your order within ten business days after ordering, and have not yet heard from a Customer Service Representative, please call 800-874-6841 to check the status of your order.

Phone Orders

Telephone orders may normally be placed from 0800 to 1530, Monday-Friday, Eastern Standard Time, excluding Federal holidays.  To reduce your phone holding time, have a list of items needed and your specific measurements.

You can use the standard order form to ensure you have all required information prior to calling.

Note: When you call the UDC Orders line, you will enter the UDC phone system tree.  When you make a selection, it may sound like the call is disconnecting when the call is actually just being transferred. Please stay on the line for a moment longer.  If all CSRs are busy, we will answer your call in the order in which it was received.

  • Prior to calling, be prepared:
    • 7 -digit CG Employee ID (EMPLID) number.
    • Payment information (if paying by credit card, have your card ready).
    • Look at the website to find the items you need. If you don't know which items you need, ask your supervisor.
    • Use the website-provided measurement charts and know the size of each item that you need.

Special Orders

If the UDC does not stock a non-standard size, then you may request that item by completing either the Male Special Order FormMale Special Order Form or the Female Special Order FormFemale Special Order Form.  The forms must be faxed or mailed to the UDC where the vendors will be contacted.  Please understand certain items cannot be special ordered due to production demands. While every order is processed as soon as possible, the average completion time to fill a special order is contractually bound to 120 days.  You may call for assistance.

NOTE: Reserve and Auxiliary are required to provide payment in advance. Active Duty personnel may still charge to pay, however, payment will be processed at time of order entry.

NOTE: In order to ensure accuracy of measurements, Active Duty members should seek to obtain measurements from a medical professional via their clinic. For all others or if a clinic is not readily available, members should seek to obtain measurements from a professional tailor.

Unit Orders

The UDC cannot accept unit (GCC) orders via phone.  These orders must be faxed or emailed to the UDC using a Procurement Request FormProcurement Request Form (form DOT F-4200.1.2CG).  Please ensure that the Procurement Request includes all of the following information:

  • The unit's name
  • OPFAC number (cost center code)
  • Ship to address
  • Point of contact email and telephone number
  • Please leave the credit card section blank - You must call the UDC with this information.
  • Cardholder's signature
Please fax the completed unit (GCC) order to: 609-861-7930. Do NOT include the GCC information on the form. Please call the UDC (800-874-6841) after faxing in your order. Be ready to provide all Government credit card information:
  • Account number
  • Card expiration date
  • Printed name, exactly as it appears on the credit card

Over-The-Counter sales

The UDC has two locations to serve you.  Both accept your personal MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, personal check or money order (for the exact amount of the purchase), or the Charge-To-Pay method (Coast Guard Active Duty only).

  • Woodbine, NJ:  Over-the-counter sales at the UDC's main warehouse are open from 0800 to 1430, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
  • Training Center Cape May:  Due to recruit issues, over-the-counter sales at Training Center Cape May are limited to Thursdays from 0800 to 1500.  Times are subject to change without notice, depending on the Training Center's recruit issue requirements.

All packages are sent by USPS Priority Mail.  UDC policy is to process items within 5 business days of payment.  Occasionally this processing time is extended due to customer special requests. Once processed, USPS picks up all shipments the next morning.  Shipments to most locations will arrive within 10-12 business days of the UDC receiving payment. Free expedited shipping is not available. Expedited shipping will not be approved for normal situations for which you can plan ahead (i.e. personnel inspections, shipping to a school, or promotions/advancements). If customer-expense expedited shipping is needed due to an unforeseen emergency (i.e. a funeral), please call 800-874-6841 (toll-free) or 609-861-1221 (commercial).
