Training Center Cape May hosts other resident
training programs in addition to Recruit Training.
The
Direct Entry Petty Officer Training Course is to provide petty officers who
on the basis of their civilian professions, prior military experience, or a
combination of both, will graduate as highly motivated and basically trained
members ready to assume the duties and responsibilities of their pay grade.
The Company Commander School trains the petty officers and chief petty
officers that train the recruits. All enlisted personnel assigned to
Training Center Cape May as Company Commander, Section Commander and
Battalion Commander must attend Company Commander School.
The purpose of Recruiter School is to enable Recruiters to more effectively
recruit: that is, to reach out into a given community and encourage the best
prospective Coast Guard members to join, not to simply be content with or
rely upon only those individuals who seek out the Recruiter. This four week
course is required for all personnel assigned to duty as a Recruiter or
Recruiter in Charge.
