LT Tom Marsh
Lieutenant Marsh assumed the duties as Executive Officer, United States Coast Guard Institute on 06 July 2012. Prior to this assignment, Lieutenant Marsh served as FORCECOM’s Finance and Admin Assessment Section Chief, in Norfolk Virginia.
Lieutenant Marsh hails from Washington DC and enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1990. He greatly enjoyed 13 years in the enlisted ranks prior accepting a commission as a Chief Warrant Officer that eventually led him to the CWO-LT program.
Lieutenant Marsh’s other assignments have included USCGC MALLOW, Honolulu, Hawaii; CG Station Panama City, Florida; USCGC POINT SAL, Grand Isle, Louisiana; CG Station Rockland, Maine; USCGC STORIS, Kodiak, Alaska, and Integrated Support Command Kodiak, Alaska.
Lieutenant Marsh received his commission in 2003. His first assignment was USCGC CHASE, San Diego, CA. On board he served as a department head that supervised medical, admin, supply, and food service operations. Following this tour, he was assigned to Sector Northern New England, ME. There he served as the Finance and Budget Officer, Property Officer, and Survey Officer.
Lieutenant Marsh is proud to be a plank-owner of the Chief Petty Officer Academy Class 51. He graduated from the CWO Indoctrination Course and Air Force Senior NCO Academy, earned an Associate’s degree from Regents College, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in Criminal Justice from Excelsior College. He is currently working on a Master’s through Argosy University.
Lieutenant Marsh’s military decorations include one Meritorious Service Medal, four Coast Guard Commendation Medal’s, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals with Operational Distinguishing Device, five Commandant’s Letter of Commendation, four Coast Guard Good Conduct Medals, the Permanent Cutterman's pin, and several other team, unit, and individual awards.
Lieutenant Marsh has been married for 15 years to the former Kimberlee Slocum of Union, Maine. They are blessed with two wonderful children, Treye and Cierra.
