LCDR Lisa Garcez
Before assuming command of the Coast Guard Institute Lieutenant Commander Garcez served as the Chief of Engineering Services Branch at Command, Control, and Communications Engineering Center (C3CEN) Portsmouth, Virginia. She was responsible for managing a broad range of logistical services to the fleet which included business processes, life-cycle planning, information assurance and independent testing.
LCDR Garcez enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on April 13, 1993 and in 2002 attended Officer Candidate School in New London, CT where she earned her commission as an Ensign in the United States Coast Guard.
LCDR Garcez has served in numerous operational and training units which include tours aboard USCGC SENECA, Boston, MA; Coast Guard Station FT Macon, Atlantic Beach, NC; USCG Training Quota Management Center, Chesapeake, VA; Recruiting Office Cheyenne, WY; Recruiting Office Richmond, VA, Recruiting Office Hampton Roads, Chesapeake, VA and Coast Guard Group Hampton Roads, Portsmouth, VA.
LCDR Garcez has earned an Associate of Science degree in Information Security from ECPI University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology Management from the American Military University.
LCDR Garcez’s personal awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal (two awards), the Coast Guard Achievement Medal with Operational Distinguishing Device (two awards), the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation (three awards), the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal (three awards), and numerous team and unit awards.
