Senior Leadership Principles and Skills

About the Course

The Senior Leadership Principles and Skills course is held at the Leadership Development Center, New London, CT. The purpose of the course is to build leadership knowledge, abilities, skills and attitudes of mid-level employees. Areas of study include: self-awareness and learning, effective communications, influencing others, respect for others and diversity management, team building, mentoring, management and process improvement, decision making and problem solving, conflict management, vision development and implementation, partnering, and strategic thinking.

The training requires participants to be away from their position for 5 days. All participants will be lodged at Munro hall at the CG Academy.

Eligibility

GS 12-14, WS 8-14, WL 10-15, WG 10-15, O-4, O-5

To apply:

Coordinate with your Training Officer or ESO to submit an Electronic Training Request (ETR) using Direct Access.  Course Code: 501316

To preclude high cancellation/substitution rates, please check calendars and  submit ETRs with full intent to attend the requested session.

Costs are paid by Coast Guard Headquarters (AFC 56 "C" school account).

Selection Procedures

Selected individuals will be notified by record message traffic of their selection. Alternates will be selected and will attend the program in the event a primary candidate cannot attend.
