The Mission of the TRACEN Petaluma Police Department is to work in partnership with the community to protect life and property, provide law enforcement and support services, and enhance the quality of life on the Training Center, while respecting the rights and dignity of all persons.
The TRACEN Police Department serves the Training Center in many roles. We protect life, property, individual rights, and perform law enforcement on the Training Center. The department assists the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department and California Highway Patrol with traffic accidents and other matters in the local area. The department is both a federal and military police department.
The department has adopted the COPPS (Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving) philosophy. The department conducts bicycle safety classes at the local Two Rock-Union Elementary School, hosts an annual TRACEN Public Safety Day, and assists various local jurisdictions holding special events.
The TRACEN Police Department is comprised of 12 active duty Coast Guard members. This breaks down to a Chief of Police, an Assistant Chief of Police, and 10 patrol officers.
