Coast Guard Office of Performance Management (CG-0954)
"The Coast Guard will innovate and exploit technology, research and development,
and Modeling and Simulation to remain agile and increase operational
reach, flexibility and efficiency across all missions, especially those that are
asset and personnel intensive." -
Commandant’s Direction 2011
Modeling and Simulation continues to be critical to the Coast Guard’s ability to
train safely, adapt to the dynamic demands placed on our service, and find
efficiencies in our work. We use it daily in Search and Rescue where it
helps us determine the most likely places to find boats or people in distress,
or where oil or other chemical spills may drift. Our boat crews, pilots,
cuttermen and women, maintenance personnel, and boarding officers use simulators
to train more frequently and safely helping them provide the highest quality of
service America has come to expect. And our leaders use it to constantly
evaluate how to evolve the Coast Guard and deploy our assets.
