Martin (Marty) Rajk is the Deputy Assistant Commandant for Resources and Deputy Chief Financial Officer for the U.S. Coast Guard, providing leadership on the day-to-day financial operations, budget, programming, long range planning and policy development processes of the agency.

Marty has extensive and progressive experience in leadership positions developing and implementing successful business strategies. Immediately prior to rejoining the Coast Guard he was the Assistant Chief Education Officer for Strategic Investments at NASA. In this position he was responsible for developing and implementing the Agency Education Program strategy and supporting measurement and accountability tools to include program reviews, evaluations and assessments to enhance reporting to NASA management, the Administration, and the Congress. He also planned and directed the Program budget formulation and execution processes, policy formulation, and the general business and resources management efforts. Finally, he was responsible for human resources management in the Office of Education and was the Program lead for all legislative matters and OIG and GAO engagements.

During his federal civilian career Marty was a senior program and resource advisor to the Chief Support Systems Officer in the Transportation Security Administration and served as Chief Financial Officer and Director of Administration in the Office of the Under Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Department of Commerce. His experience in strategic and performance planning, financial management, logistics and budgeting includes appointments as Budget Officer in the U.S. Census Bureau; as Chief, Budget Formulation and Execution in the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; as the Deputy Budget Officer in the Resolution Trust Corporation; and, as a staff budget analyst in the U.S. Coast Guard. Marty’s career also includes project, program and senior leadership positions in the private sector in small to medium size companies providing program management, engineering and logistics management services.

He began his federal career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast Guard following his graduation from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, serving in positions in New York, NY, Washington, D.C., and Honolulu, HI. Marty holds a Master of Business Administration from The George Washington University and has attended numerous executive leadership development opportunities, including the executive program in National & International Security at Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is the recipient of numerous performance recognitions, including the NASA Administrator Honor Award, the Department of Commerce – Secretary’s Silver Medal for Meritorious Federal Service, and the Coast Guard Comptroller’s Award.
